Sometimes health screening can highlight multiple issues which may take numerous consultations to address. If we feel these recommendations cannot be covered in allocated consultation time we will inform you of what we can cover and how long it would take to address all of your issues.
You can visit us in person or contact us by phone, message or email.
If you would like to access any of GP2Health services you will need to register with our practice. This is done using the secure Electronic Health Record (EHR) named Semble. We will email you or help you to complete a registration form in person. In this registration form, we will collect some of your personal information including demographics, habits, medicines and comorbidities. Please see our policies and regulations section to understand how we use your data.
There are 3 stages to your health check
1. Prior to the health check we ask that you complete 3 questionnaires specific to men.
2. We then invite you to the practice for your physical exam, blood testing, ultrasound scans, stool samples, ECG , urinalysis etc. This depends upon which screen you choose.
3. Once all the results are back, the GP will review all of your results and deliver these verbally to you in person during a relaxed consultation. A written interpretation can be provided for you to take away. The results will form the structure for making recommendations on ways to improve your health.
If you are able to consent (legally give permission for the exams and tests) then we are happy for you to have the screening tests. Generally this is around the age of 13 but depends upon the individual. If you are not able to consent and a parent or legal guardian wants to request a screen for you we will ask further questions as we may be able to help support your concerns in other ways.
The information gathered from the 3 screening health questionnaires are in addition to that collated when you register with the practice. The health screening questionnaires are free and are available on the web. They are specifically screening for Men's health issues such as testosterone deficiency, prostate problems, mental health difficulties and erectile dysfunction.
Sadly not. If you are at increased risk of exposure to HIV or have possibly been exposed to HIV within the last 72 hours please visit a local sexual health clinic. Beyond this we will offer a full sexual health screen.
These results may be inaccurate if taken to soon after a sexual encounter. Generally, they are most accurate around 6-12 weeks after the sexual encounter but some tests may detect early infection. Repeat testing may be needed and depends upon the type of sexual encounter and the interval between sexual encounter and testing.
